AHCAP Community Assistance Initiative

For the past several years, the AHCAP Board of Directors has chosen an organization in the Annual Conference host city in need of our member's assistance.  Each year representatives of the Iniative organization are invited to attend the Annual Conference Member Appreciation Dinner at which the organization is presented with the collection.

2009 Recipient Initiative:

About UNM Children's Hospitals
At UNM Children's Hospital, all children receive the best medical care regardless of the family's ability to pay. In partnership with UNM Hospitals, the UNM Health Sciences Center offers health care by doctors who are leaders and professors in their medical specialties. We are training the healthcare providers of tomorrow - the best and brightest - so that we can meet the needs of New Mexico for future generations of children.

Government funding and revenues enables us to provide millions of dollars in uncompensated care for those in need. However, the needs for our children always exceed what we receive through government funding. Private support from our community is essential to help us build new facilities to accommodate the growth of our state, conduct research to find treatments for devastating childhood diseases, and offer state-of-the-art technology and community programs for our smallest patients. UNM Children's Hospital provides family-centered care to each and every child.

We truly appreciate the support our community gives us so that we may in turn give back to the community.

How You Can Help
The Hospital is always in need of certain items that help our patient and their families. Items such as artwork and sculptures that bring color and life to our hallways, clinics and exam rooms to toys, books, fun band-aids, clothes, and so much more.

Members are asked to pack or ship children's books, blankets, bonnets, hats, activity/color books, crayons as well as monetary and in-kind donations.
