In order to qualify for the EARLY rates, completed registration forms and payment must be received or postmarked no later than Friday, August 9th. All registrations must be received no later than Friday, September 6th. After September 6th, all registrations must be made on-site.

SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
AHCAP Conference Scholarships are awarded to eligible AHCAP members to help with their 2019 AHCAP Educational Conference expenses. All applicants must meet the eligibility criteria listed below in order to qualify. The award will be dispersed through AHCAP Headquarters and will not exceed $580 applied to full conference registration. The deadline for submission is July 5, 2019, and notification will be made as soon as possible. Click here to download the writable scholarship application.
 
GUEST FEES
Guest fees for meals and social functions are offered as accommodation for adult guests accompanying registered conference participants. Reservations must be made in advance for each function and the appropriate charges should be included in the payment that accompanies your registration form. If a guest wishes to attend the general or concurrent sessions, they must purchase a full conference registration at the appropriate member or non-member rate.

CANCELLATION POLICY
Cancellations submitted in writing to AHCAP Headquarters by August 23, 2019 will be refunded, less a $75 processing fee. There will be no refunds for cancellations received after this date. All refunds will be processed after the conference. “No-shows” will be charged at the full conference rate.

Resilience is the process of adapting well in the face of adversity, trauma, or significant sources of stress. Learning to maintain your cool when confronted with difficult behaviors and challenging personalities is an essential part of being a professional. The Atlanta History Center is where the stories and mysteries of our region thrive. Our 33-acre experience features award-winning exhibitions, historic houses, enchanting gardens, interactive activities and a variety of year-round adult and family programs. Participants will enjoy self-guided tours of Atlanta History Center including the Cyclorama and guided tours of Smith Family Farm and Swan House. Registration fee includes round trip transportation from the conference hotel and admission to Atlanta History Center. Lunch is not included. Bruce Boettcher has been a practicing Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist for 25 years. He and his family live in Southern Utah where he has worked for Intermountain Healthcare’s Employee Assistance Program for the past 15 years, providing mental health services to employees and their family members, consulting with HR and leadership teams, presenting work-life wellness classes and supporting efforts for healthy living through his collaboration with corporations. In his spare time, Bruce enjoys time with his family hiking and relaxing in the outdoors, watching and coaching soccer, and managing the ups and downs of raising teens with as much humor as possible. Bruce is an avid runner and spends downtime running off stress with friends while training for marathons. One of his favorite quotes to live by comes from the movie Shawshank Redemption, "Get busy living or get busy dying.”

In 1998, he took a leap of faith and accepted an AT&T early retirement buyout offer to pursue his speaking, entertainment, and training dreams. He is a certified Microsoft Office Application Specialist – Instructor, Microsoft Certified Trainer, and CompTIA Certified Computer Trainer +. He has written over 15 books on the Microsoft Office Suite, including Office 365, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, OneNote and Outlook. He is an award-winning actor and comedian. He has won southern region awards for his Microsoft Office suite training programs and top continuing education instructor. His speaking and training programs are filled with music, humor and learning. Get ready to laugh and learn with Greg.

Carrie Owen Plietz

Carrie Owen Plietz was appointed WellStar Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer – Hospital Division in February 2016. She currently oversees operations and strategy for all WellStar’s 11 hospital locations as well as all nursing and emergency preparedness throughout Wellstar Health System. She is the former CEO of Sutter Medical Center and under her leadership, SMCS achieved its highest physician satisfaction, employee satisfaction and patient satisfaction in its history.

Owen Plietz received a master’s degree in health administration and a fellowship in health law at Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia Campus and an undergraduate degree in health administration with honors from James Madison University. She currently serves on the American College of Healthcare Executives Board of Governors and she has been honored as one of Modern Healthcare’s Up and Comers 2011, Becker’s Top 25 executives under 40 for five consecutive years and the 2010 Robert S. Hudgens Young Health Care Executive of the Year by the American College of Healthcare Executives.

For the past six years, Kay Wallace has managed duka duka, a consulting firm offering a full spectrum of intensive results-based consulting services to navigate leadership matters in all phases of the enterprise lifecycle. Prior to that, she served as managing director of STAND-UP, served as strategy implementation leader at Dow AgroSciences, LLC, started Effective Solutions International, a consulting firm specializing in four lines of service and as the director of learning strategy for The Coca-Cola Company in Sub-Saharan Africa. Prior to joining Coca-Cola, Ms. Wallace was the deputy chief operating officer of the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games. As deputy COO, Ms. Wallace co-managed the day-to-day operations of the $1.7 billion project including construction, finance, logistics, games operations, administration, technology, project management, program scheduling and integration. During the games, over 70,000 people were involved in the operations.

Ms. Wallace earned a master’s in business administration from the Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Alabama. She has served on the board of the Lifecycle Building Center, Young Audiences, Scitrek, The Friends of Superman, HBS Club of Atlanta as well as numerous boards at The University of Alabama and Emory University.

CONFERENCE JUSTIFICATION TOOLKIT
The AHCAP Educational Conference is the only annual educational event dedicated specifically to healthcare administrative professionals. It provides targeted continuing education for healthcare EAs, delivered by healthcare experts. To convince your boss that you need to attend, just use our Conference Justification Toolkit.

CONFERENCE ATTIRE/WEATHER
The conference attire is summer casual. Conference rooms can be chilly so a light sweater or jacket is recommended. The average temperature in Atlanta in September is in the upper 70's.

DISTRIBUTION OF PUBLICATIONS AND PROMOTIONAL MATERIALS
Distribution of brochures, fact sheets, advertising, industry publications and promotional materials is not allowed during the conference except for companies participating in the official conference sponsorship program. Distribution of these materials by sponsors is allowed only within the guidelines of the sponsorship program.

SCHEDULING NON-AHCAP FUNCTIONS
Events that conflict with officially sponsored AHCAP events or educational programming are not allowed during the conference. This includes hospitality suites, special breakfasts, focus groups or similar events.
 
Camp Sunshine CONFERENCE CHARITY
The 2019 Charity is Camp Sunshine, which enriches the lives of Georgia’s children with cancer and their families through recreational, educational, and support programs. Camp Sunshine is committed to providing opportunities for normal development for all children with cancer throughout their journey, promoting individual growth, self-confidence, and normal life experiences for children with cancer and their families and bringing together those with similar experiences in order to share those experiences and draw strength from one another amid that common understanding.
In celebrating 30 years of AHCAP conferences, we are asking for $30 donations to the AHCAP Educational Fund, which assists AHCAP members to attend conference. All donors will be recognized during the September conference in Atlanta.
