Anyone else worried about being laid off due to the financial destruction this pandemic has caused? Our clinic is beginning the discussions on who to put on the short list for a lay off and have canceled any locums that were scheduled to start. How imperative do you all think it is to hang on to an admin? They always say to me "I can't do this job without you" I guess time will tell just how much truth there is to that statement.

I had reserved it prior - and just finished the audio book Braving the Wilderness by Brene Brown. Very timely during our current state - I would recommend everyone reading this book.

I have a colleague in Michigan who is facing a lay-off or having her hours cut. I didn't think I would have a problem but it did make me wonder. One thing someone said was to stay active and to get involved in efforts to help our organizations deal with this crisis. It would also be good to take the time to learn new skills, maybe through LinkedIn Learning or some other online source.
Whatever it is, we WILL get through this. Maybe they can function for a short time without us, but you know it's just a matter of time before they realize how badly they need us (and that we keep the place running). It's just a crazy time right now. Our whole world is changing in front of us. But I'm confident this will pass, and I hope we'll all be better for it.
Hang in there!

kyna.powers Thanks for the comment. That is def true to learn new skills. I've been studying to take my certification exam and now I just feel like I should probably excelerate the process. Every morning I say to myself "Stay relevant. I gotta stay relevant!"

lisa.stracek Thanks! I will have to check out that book. The description on Amazon sounds interesting. I guess I have some time on my hands to read a book now considering the lockdown!
